PRF Gas Solutions, as leader of the H2NG consortium, hosted the technical demonstration session of this pioneering project, with the participation of partners STREAM, University of Coimbra and ADAI, as well as institutional representatives, media and key players from the national energy sector.
The H2NG project aims to demonstrate, under real operating conditions, the feasibility of hydrogen injection into the natural gas transmission network, operating at high pressure, contributing to the decarbonisation of existing energy infrastructures.
The project focused on the implementation of a controlled blending solution, integrating hydrogen production, conditioning and control systems, and an injection point designed to operate directly on the existing infrastructure, without intrusive devices on the network.
The solution enables hydrogen flow control, continuous monitoring of key operational parameters, and assessment of H?/NG mixture compatibility under real conditions, ensuring high levels of safety and reliability.
The demonstration session validated the system behaviour under dynamic conditions, contributing to the generation of experimental data and technical-scientific knowledge essential for the evolution of gas transmission networks within the energy transition.
As part of this public dissemination, the project video is also presented, summarising the developed solution and its technical framework.
This project was co-funded by Centro 2030, Portugal 2030 and the European Union.
